Convert artwork into vector paths a laser can follow, free and entirely in your browser. Laser software treats geometry in two ways: a closed path becomes a cut or score, a filled region becomes an engrave. Tracing gives you both as real geometry, instead of asking the machine to guess from a bitmap.

Three things ruin laser jobs more than anything else, and all three are visible before you send the file. Stacked duplicate paths make the head burn the same line twice, which scorches the edge and doubles the run. Stray specks send the head travelling across the bed for a mark nobody sees. And an unnoticed background layer becomes a cut around your entire sheet.

Which laser software opens these files?

LightBurn, Glowforge, xTool Creative Space and most CAM front-ends read standard SVG directly. Check the scale after importing — SVG carries no physical size of its own.

Will my file cut or engrave?

Neither is decided here. You assign that per layer inside your laser software: closed outlines usually become cut or score, filled areas become engrave. Traced layers arrive separated so you can assign each one.

Why does my laser burn the same line twice?

Duplicate stacked paths — tracing can leave a shape sitting on top of its own outline. It looks identical on screen and scorches on the machine. Use the Simplified preset or lower Detail level, then delete redundant layers in the colour list before exporting.

How do I remove tiny specks the laser wastes time on?

Use the Simplified preset or lower Detail level so fewer tiny fragments are generated. Speckles under a few hundred square units are invisible in the finished piece but real travel time.

What image resolution should I use?

Sharper is better. Aim for at least 1000px on the longest side, with clean edges and a plain background. Heavily compressed or tiny images make the tracer follow compression noise instead of real edges, which produces jagged paths.

Why is my SVG file bigger than the original image?

Because each shape is stored as a mathematical path. Photos and gradients produce thousands of paths. For a smaller file, use the Simplified preset or lower Detail level to reduce the number of colour regions and paths.

Can I edit the colors before downloading?

Yes. After converting, the palette lists every color layer. Click a swatch to recolour it — shading is preserved — or hide a layer to drop it entirely, such as removing a background before export.

Can I use the SVG files for Cricut or laser cutting?

Yes. The output is standard SVG that imports into Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, and laser software. Use the Logo / Text preset for the cleanest cut paths, and remove the background layer first.

Do I own the converted files? Is there a watermark?

12pixa adds no watermark or usage restrictions to the generated SVG. Your right to use the result depends on the rights you hold in the source image.
